Here are five newsletters I subscribe to, such amongst a few more, and such that help me navigate the industry and stay informed of everything going on. Some of these are on films, others are on the business, and keeping up to date with both of those things is equally important, in my opinion.
BFI NETWORK
The BFI publishes a monthly newsletter in the beginning of every month with filmmaking opportunities (like funding opportunities…), updates, events, and more. Super useful if you don’t want to overwhelm yourself with information, and would just like to read something once a month with all necessary information. Subscribe here.
Sight & Sound
A newsletter also run by the BFI, but not on industry news, rather on films, film analysis, film essays, film reviews, everything film — Sight & Sound is an incredible publication, and a really academic one. Subscribe here.
The Reveal
A tad less academic, Scott Tobias’ The Reveal will keep you up to date with a lot of things film, and provide some really unique and insightful thoughts and theories. This is definitely one of the best newsletters for people who love movies. Subscribe here.
Film London
This newsletter is similar to the BFI NETWORK one, but it’s more frequent and contains a lot more current information. Definitely a great resource if you’d want to always stay informed. Subscribe here.
Little White Lies
Not a newsletter (sorry, I’m cheating), but I read Little White Lies all the time. One of the best publications for film out there. I usually only read what they post online, but I’ve picked up a few magazine issues in the past, too, and those are definitely worth it, too. I think they have a newsletter, but I haven’t been able to check that out myself yet.
Bonus newsletter: Look Inside
A pretty awesome one, a personal favorite actually…
